Rome Masters: Mensik ends Marozsan’s run to seal last 16 ticket

No 20 seed Jakub Mensik moved into the last 16 of the Rome Masters by winning against Hungarian Fabian Marozsan 6-4, 7-6 (2) at the Foro Italico in Roma on Monday afternoon.

Mensik, ranked No 21, will play the winner of the match between American Marcos Giron and Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 30 seed, next.

Jakub Mensik defeated Italian wildcard Matteo Gigante (7-6 (4), 7-5) in the previous round of the Italian Open.

In the previous rounds of the Italian Open, Marozsan, ranked No 61, beat Brazilian Joao Fonseca (6-3, 7-6 (4)) and Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 16 seed (7-5, 4-6, 6-3).
