Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 3 seed, beat Jakub Mensik 6-4, 6-4 to move into the last eight of the Rotterdam Open at the Rotterdam Ahoy on Thursday.
De Minaur overcame Mensik in an hour, 29 minutes on the back of two break-point conversions, also benefitting from the latter’s five double faults.
The result meant the Aussie has now qualified for the quarter-finals in Rotterdam for the fourth straight year. He’s only the first player to achieve the feat after 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.
De Minaur, ranked No 8, will face the winner of the match between Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 7 seed, and German lucky loser Daniel Altmaier next.
The Australian won against Belgian David Goffin (6-2, 6-4) in the previous round of the Rotterdam tournament.
