When will the Canadian Open take place?

The men’s event at the Canadian Open, also known as the National Bank Open, will start from August 5, 2022 while the women’s event will begin on August 6, with both events scheduled to end on August 14, 2022.

Which top players are absent from the 2022 Canadian Open?

Roger Federer, a two-time champion at the National Bank Open, will be among the big names missing on the men’s side. The Swiss player is yet to return after his surgery following Wimbledon in 2021. It is uncertain whether current world No 2 Alexander Zverev, who underwent surgery following the French Open, will recover in time to play in Canada.

The women’s tournament has attracted a stellar field with all the top 30 ranked players having entered the draw. The only players missing among the top 42 are Angelique Kerber (ranked 31st at the time of entry list announcement) and Elina Svitolina (ranked 42nd and currently on a break from the tour as she is pregnant).

Will Novak Djokovic be allowed to play the 2022 Canadian Open?

As of now, Novak Djokovic remains on the entry list for the men’s event but current rules do not permit unvaccinated visitors into the country. Unless the rules change between now and the time of the tournament draw, it looks unlikely that Djokovic will be able to play in Montreal.
