Thiem continues resurgence, beats Gaston to reach Gstaad second round

Dominic Thiem advanced to the second round of the Swiss Open by edging out Frenchman Hugo Gaston, the No 7 seed, 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7) at the Roy Emerson Arena in Gstaad on Tuesday.
The former US Open champion is en route back to full fitness following a nine-month absence and then four months in which he did not record a win.
Thiem, ranked No 274, will play Argentinian Federico Delbonis next.
