Djere saves two match points to beat Gasquet and reach Winston-Salem semis

Serbia’s Laslo Djere advanced to the semi-finals of the Winston-Salem Open after a hard-fought three set win over French veteran Richard Gasquet during which he saved two match points at the Winston-Salem Open on Thursday night.

Gasquet had two match points in the third set tiebreak before Djere came back to win 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (6) in two hours and 41 minutes.

Laslo Djere, ranked No 89, will face the winner of the match between No 13 seed Jack Draper and Swiss qualifier Marc-Andrea Huesler in the semi-finals.

This was the Serb’s fourth consecutive three-set win this week. He had defeated Belgian David Goffin (6-3, 3-6, 6-3), Portuguese João Sousa, the No 16 seed (4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5)) and Australian qualifier Jason Kubler (7-6 (4), 6-7 (9), 6-3) in the previous rounds at Winston-Salem.
