Australian Open: Auger-Aliassime beats Grenier to book spot in third round

Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 27 seed, reached the third round of the Australian Open by beating French qualifier Hugo Grenier 6-1, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 at Melbourne Park.

Auger-Aliassime, ranked No 30, will play the winner of the match between Finn Emil Ruusuvuori and Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, next.

The Canadian won against Austrian Dominic Thiem (6-3, 7-5, 6-7 (5), 5-7, 6-3) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round, Grenier, ranked No 178, won against Alexandre Muller (2-6, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7)).
