The International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced on Tuesday that the Hopman Cup, its mixed-team event, will not be held in 2024 due to the close proximity to the Paris Olympics and will return to the calendar in 2025.

The tournament, held in Australia at the start of the season from 1989 to 2019, returned to the calendar in 2023 in Nice, France with Croatia beating Switzerland to win the tournament last year.

However, with the Olympic Games also being held in Roland-Garros this year, the ITF has decided to press the pause button for the event this year.

“With both the Hopman Cup and Olympic Games due to take place in France this year, hitting pause on the Hopman Cup until 2025 is a sensible decision,” ITF President David Haggerty said. “The players who had committed to this year’s event have been informed and we look forward to seeing them in the Cote d’Azur next year.”
