The global UTS Tour tennis league will make its debut in Asia this October with a new UTS Hong Kong event at the new and world-class venue, the Kai Tak Arena (14-15 October). It’s been announced by Patrick Mouratoglou, founder of UTS, and Michael Cheng, President of the HKC Tennis Association, in front of a crowd of 12.500 people in Nîmes, where the second stage of this year’s Tour is currently happening.

UTS is partnering with the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association (HKCTA) to bring some of the world’s top male players to compete in UTS Hong Kong for a prize money pot of US$1.1 million, with the winner taking home at least US$306,000. Previous winners on the UTS Tour include top ten talent Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, Jack Draper, Gael Monfils, and Ben Shelton, among others.

Australia’s No 1 and 2024 UTS Grand Final London champion Alex de Minaur is among the players already confirmed in the eight-man field in Hong Kong, with the Top 10 player and 2024 UTS Oslo champion Andrey Rublev, and China’s No 1 tennis star Zhang Zhizhen. The five remaining players will be revealed in the coming weeks.

“A significant milestone” fOR Hong Kong

“Hosting UTS Hong Kong marks a significant milestone for tennis in Hong Kong and the surrounding region,” Michael Cheng said. “As part of the Hong Kong Tennis Season and an event sanctioned by the Asian Tennis Federation, UTS Hong Kong adds a dynamic and engaging dimension to our existing line-up of ATP, WTA, and ITF Tour events. The unique, fan-centric format of UTS creates an electrifying atmosphere that brings tennis to life. As the first-ever Asian stop for UTS, Hong Kong has the opportunity to inspire a new generation of players and tennis enthusiasts, contributing to the growth of the sport and the mega-event economy of our city.”

Patrick Mouratoglou highlighted: “Hong Kong is such an exciting, vivacious and fast-paced place so it’s the perfect location for UTS to make its debut in Asia. The HKCTA, our co-organizer, has done a fantastic job in growing tennis in Hong Kong and we share their passion for bringing more and more new people into the sport, especially kids and young people.”

UTS becomes global in 2025

The Hong Kong UTS event will follow in the footsteps of iconic cities and stadiums like Forest Hills in New York City, London, Los Angeles, Oslo and Frankfurt, which have played host to ground-breaking, sold-out UTS Tour events.

As well as two days of UTS matches, the players will also take part in the UTS Hong Kong Tennis Clinics on Monday 13 October, where children of all ages will have the chance to get on court and give tennis a try before watching players showcase the UTS All Star Game.

The 2025 UTS Tour made its debut this year in Latin America in February with UTS Guadalajara, while the Bastide Medical UTS Nîmes is currently being played by seven of the world’s top 20 players. A UTS Grand Final will take place in December at a location yet to be announced. London has successfully hosted the UTS Grand Final for the last two years.
