Rublev was born in Moscow, Russia on October 20, 1997. He is 21 years old.

Rublev is the son of Andrey Sr., a former boxer turned restaurateur, and Marina Marenko, a tennis teacher. He started playing tennis at the age of three.

Rublev has won six titles on the circuit, including five in 2020. His first trophy came 2017, in Umag, where he beat Paolo Lorenzi in the final. Since then, he has won tournaments in Moscow, Doha, Adelaide and then his first two ATP 500s, Hamburg and Saint Petersburg before adding a fifth 2020 title by beating Lorenzo Sonego in the final in Vienna.
