World No 1 Iga Swiatek extended her unbeaten streak to 30 matches with a comfortable 6-0, 6-2 win over American Alison Riske to reach the third round of Roland-Garros in Paris on Thursday.

Swiatek has not lost a match since mid-February and is gunning for her sixth consecutive title on the tour.

Through her first two rounds in Paris, the 20-year-old has dropped only four games, winning two sets by a 6-0 score line. The Pole has now won 15 sets by a 6-0 margin in 2022, which is 10 short of the most 6-0 sets won by any player this century.

With the win, the Pole also becomes the first player to win 13 consecutive matches as the world’s top-ranked player on the WTA Tour since Serena Williams did the same in 2015.

The win was also Swiatek’s 16th in 18 career matches at Roland-Garros, improving her winning percentage to 88-9%, which is only bettered by Margaret Court (95%), Chris Evert (92%) and Steffi Graf (90%).

Swiatek, who turns 21 in the middle of the tournament on May 31, is through to face Montenegrin Danka Kovinic in the round of 32. Kovinic defeated Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova 6-3, 7-5 to book her spot in the third round for the first time in Paris.

Kovinic had reached the round of 32 at a Grand Slam for the first time at the Australian Open in January and has followed it up with another third-round showing here in Paris.
