US Open: Impressive De Minaur breezes past Yibing Wu and into third round

Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 13 seed, moved into the third round of the US Open by defeating Chinese Yibing Wu 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The Australian No 1 impressed in a clinical and one-sided performance against a dangerous opponent. Losing just four games in a lightning-quick second-round victory, De Minaur looks in fine form in New York.

The world No 13 will face the winner of the match between Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 23 seed, and American wildcard Alex Michelsen next.

The Australian edged out Kazakh qualifier Timofey Skatov (6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5) in the previous round of the Flushing Meadows tournament.

In the previous round of the Flushing Meadows tournament, Wu, ranked No 86, won against Serb Dusan Lajovic (3-6, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2).
