US Open: Kudermetova books spot in second round

Veronika Kudermetova defeated Donna Vekic 7-5, 6-3 on Monday. She’ll play the winner of the match between American wildcard Coco Vandeweghe and Belgian Maryna Zanevska in the next round

Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 18 seed, advanced to the second round of the US Open by defeating Croat Donna Vekic 7-5, 6-3 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Monday.

Kudermetova, ranked No 18, will play the winner of the match between American wildcard Coco Vandeweghe and Belgian Maryna Zanevska next.
