Organizers of the Bastide UTS Nîmes announced Wednesday that world No. 16 Karen Khachanov has secured the final spot in the tournament field, as the quarter-final draw for the 2026 season opener was finalized.

The tournament is scheduled to take place on April 3–4 within the Arènes de Nîmes, a historic Roman amphitheater.

The addition of Khachanov, a former Rolex Paris Masters champion and two-time Grand Slam semi-finalist, marks a significant milestone for the UTS circuit. For the first time in the organization’s history, every participant in the eight-player field currently holds a top 15 world ranking or has achieved that status within the past 12 months.

NÎMES Quarter-Final Matchups

The quarter-final round, set for Friday, April 3, will feature four distinct pairings vying for a share of a $1 million prize pool. The matchups are as follows:

  • Felix Auger-Aliassime (1) vs. Grigor Dimitrov: Top-seeded Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime will face former world No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov.
  • Alexander Bublik (2) vs. Ugo Humbert: Second-seeded Alexander Bublik, a recent addition to the world top 10, will meet France’s Ugo Humbert, the sole domestic representative in the field.
  • Casper Ruud vs. Karen Khachanov: Defending champion and clay-court specialist Casper Ruud is slated to face Khachanov in the Russian’s UTS debut.
  • Andrey Rublev vs. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina: A contest between two high-intensity baseliners rounds out the opening day’s schedule.

Tournament Format and Sales

The UTS format guarantees that all eight players will compete on both days of the event, with Friday’s quarter-finals leading into a “Final Four” on Saturday.

Tournament officials indicated that ticket demand for the second edition of the Nîmes event has been high. Saturday sessions are largely sold out, though a final release of reserved seating is scheduled for Thursday. Friday tickets are also reported to be selling rapidly via the circuit’s official website.

The Nîmes event serves as a key early-season fixture on the 2026 tennis calendar, providing a high-profile opening to the European red clay stretch.
