Carlos Alcaraz has responded with humor and composure to recent comments from Nick Kyrgios, who questioned the Spaniard’s focus due to his off-court lifestyle. During a round-table segment for the UTS Tour, the video program All on the Table, Kyrgios suggested that Jannik Sinner would enjoy greater long-term success than Alcaraz, citing distractions off the court.

“I’ll say Sinner, because Alcaraz loves girls,” Kyrgios, who will play UTS Hong Kong next October, said. “He might get distracted, he might party too much. That’s my only thing, where Sinner will stay a bit locked in, I think.”

Kyrgios’ remarks came just days after Alcaraz was spotted vacationing in Ibiza following his French Open triumph, a celebration that made headlines, and following his documentary A mi Manera (My Way) showcasing Alcaraz’ wish to be a champion with his own lifestyle, including long breaks with no tennis.

When asked about the comment by Spanish reporters at Wimbledon, Alcaraz offered a measured and light-hearted response:

“Yes, I’ve seen (these comments). He’s an authority on the subject of nightlife, so we should listen when he talks,” he said with a laugh. “No, obviously those are funny comments, and honestly, I’m not surprised by anything anymore. But in the end, everyone has their own point of view.”

it’s a funny comment—I laugh at those kinds of remarks from time to time.

Alcaraz acknowledged the contrast with Sinner but dismissed any implication that his enjoyment of life off the court compromises his performance.

“It’s no secret that we’ve seen Jannik has fewer ups and downs than I do. I’ve always said it’s something that I’ve been working on,” Alcaraz said. “But Jannik is more… how do I say it? He’s more consistent from start to finish. I struggle a bit more with that. It has nothing to do with the world of nightlife, even if I do like to enjoy myself. But it’s a funny comment—I laugh at those kinds of remarks from time to time.”

Alcaraz showed no sign of letting the talk affect him, brushing off the criticism with confidence and humor as he continues his Wimbledon run with a fourth round to be played on Sunday against Andrey Rublev.
