Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut advanced to the last 16 of Wimbledon by winning against Italian Fabio Fognini 7-6 (6), 3-6, 5-7, 7-6 (1), 6-4 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Saturday afternoon.
The Spaniard becomes the ninth man in the Open Era to reach the round of 16 at Wimbledon aged 36 or older.
Bautista Agut, ranked No 112, will play American Tommy Paul, the No 12 seed, next.
The 36-year-old Spaniard defeated German Maximilian Marterer (6-3, 6-1, 6-4) and edged out Italian Lorenzo Sonego (6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of The Championships, Fognini, ranked No 94, won against French lucky loser Luca Van Assche (6-1, 6-3, 7-5) and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 8 seed (6-4, 7-5, 6-7 (1), 6-3).
