Czech teen Brenda Fruhvirtova, the younger of the Fruhvirtova sisters, achieved a few milestones on Tuesday with a win over Russian Anna Blinkova 7-5, 6-4 in the first round of the ASB Classic on Tuesday.

The win marked the best career win, in terms of ranking, for Fruhvirtova as well as her first WTA main draw level win.

Fruhvirtova, ranked No 117 and a qualifier this week, will face top seed Coco Gauff next in a battle of teenagers.

The older Fruhvirtova sister, Linda, was defeated in the first round of the tournament as she went down to fourth seed Emma Navarro in the first round. The sisters also combined to play doubles but were knocked out 6-3, 7-6 by Erin Routliffe/ Paige Hourigan.
