Budapest Open: Korpatsch books spot in quarter-finals

Tamara Korpatsch edged out Danka Kovinic 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 on Wednesday. She’ll face the winner of the match between Hungarian wildcard Natalia Szabanin and Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus in the next round

German qualifier Tamara Korpatsch edged out Montenegrin Danka Kovinic 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 to move into the quarter-finals of the Budapest Open at Római Tennis Academy on Wednesday.

Korpatsch, ranked No 118, will play the winner of the match between Hungarian wildcard Natalia Szabanin and Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus next.

Ahead of her victory, the German edged out Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the No 4 seed (2-6, 6-4, 6-4).

Kovinic, ranked No 76, beat Hungarian Reka Luca Jani (6-4, 6-2) in the previous round.
