Chennai Open: Second seed Gracheva sets up Fruhvirtova quarter-final
Varvara Gracheva defeated Carol Zhao 6-1, 7-5 on Thursday evening and will play Czech Linda Fruhvirtova in the next round
Russian Varvara Gracheva, the second seed, defeated Canadian Carol Zhao 6-1, 7-5 to advance to the last eight of the Chennai Open on Thursday evening.
Gracheva, ranked No 80, will play Czech Linda Fruhvirtova next.
In the previous round, the 22-year-old Russian won against qualifier Mariia Tkacheva (6-3, 6-2).
Zhao, ranked No 187, beat Australian qualifier Olivia Tjandramulia (6-1, 6-1) in the previous round.
