China Open: Frech upsets 12th seed Shnaider to reach last 16
The Pole will play the winner of the match between Chinese wildcard Shuai Zhang and Belgian Greet Minnen in the next round

Poland’s Magdalena Frech, the No 23 seed, edged out Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 12 seed, 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of the China Open on Sunday.
Shnaider had won their only previous meeting on the tour, a third set tiebreak win in the round of 32 in Toronto earlier this year.
Frech, ranked No 31, will play the winner of the match between Chinese wildcard Shuai Zhang and Belgian Greet Minnen at the National Tennis Center in Beijing next.
The Pole edged out American qualifier Alycia Parks (6-4, 5-7, 6-4) earlier in the week.
In the previous round of the tournament, Shnaider, ranked No 16, defeated American Sofia Kenin (6-2, 6-3).
