Garbiñe Muguruza and Conchita Martinez have officially ended their productive partnership that spanned many years and included Muguruza’s 2017 Wimbledon title.

Martinez was then filling in for Muguruza’s coach Sam Sumyk, who could not attend Wimbledon that year for personal reasons.

She later became Muguruza’s full-time coach in November of 2019, and the pair worked productively for the last three and a half years. Muguruza’s has undergone a dip in form of late, however, and the Spaniard announced recently that she’ll be sipping the clay and grass seasons for personal reasons.

“Garbiñe and I have mutually agreed to end our employment relationship,” Martinez wrote on Twitter. “They have been fantastic years, full of great emotions and wonderful experiences, both on and off the court. It has been a pleasure to work with you, Garbiñe. I wish you the best.”
