Japanese qualifier Haruka Kaji reached the last 16 of the Dow Tennis Classic by winning against qualifier Emily Appleton 6-1, 6-4 on Tuesday.
Kaji, ranked No 282, will face the winner of the match between Canadian Marina Stakusic, the No 7 seed, and American Varvara Lepchenko next.
