Dubai Open: Rybakina advances to quarter-finals
Elena Rybakina edged out Magdalena Frech 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-4 on Wednesday and will face Italian Jasmine Paolini in the next round

Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 4 seed, edged out Polish qualifier Magdalena Frech 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals of the Dubai Open at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Wednesday.
Rybakina, ranked No 4, will play Italian Jasmine Paolini next.
In the previous round of the Dubai tournament, the Kazakh benefited from the abandonment of Belarusian Victoria Azarenka (4-6, 6-2).
Frech, ranked No 53, won against Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 14 seed (7-6 (2), 6-3) and Croat Petra Martic (6-4, 1-6, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Dubai tournament.
