New Zealander qualifier Lulu Sun beat American qualifier Claire Liu 6-0, 7-6 (3) to advance to the final of the Guangzhou Open at the Nansha International Tennis Center on Saturday.
Sun, ranked No 116, will play American Ann Li, the second seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the New Zealander won against American Catherine McNally (3-6, 6-3, 6-4), Chinese wildcard Yafan Wang (6-3, 6-1) and Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, the top seed (7-6 (3), 7-6 (2).
