Kessler comes back to beat Cirstea in Austin quarter-finals
McCartney Kessler recovered from a set deficit to defeat Sorana Cirstea on Friday in Austin. Kessler will battle either Greet Minnen or Caroline Dolehide in the semis.

McCartney Kessler, the No 5 seed, defeated Romanian Sorana Cirstea 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 to reach the semi-finals of the Austin Open at the Westwood Country Club on Friday night.
Kessler, ranked No 56, awaits the winner of a match between Belgian Greet Minnen and American Caroline Dolehide next.
Earlier in the tournament, the American dismissed Swiss lucky loser Viktorija Golubic (6-2, 7-5) and Spanish qualifier Cristina Bucsa (5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (4)).
Cirstea, ranked No 120, advanced to the last eight by beating Germany’s Laura Siegemund (6-3, 0-6, 6-1) and Russia’s Diana Shnaider, the second seed (6-3, 2-6, 6-4).
