No 6 seed Caroline Garcia moved into the last 8 of the Lausanne Open by defeating qualifier Leolia Jeanjean 6-1, 6-4 at Tennis Club du Stade-Lausanne on Thursday. Garcia, ranked No 48, will face Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, the No 4 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, Caroline Garcia won against Italian Jasmine Paolini (6-3, 6-3). Jeanjean, ranked No 155, benefited from the forfeit of German Tatjana Maria in the previous round of the Lausanne.
