Linz Open: Sakkari books spot in last four

Greek Maria Sakkari, the top seed, advanced to the last four of the Linz Open by beating Croat Donna Vekic, the No 5 seed, 6-3, 7-6 (8) at the Design Center Linz on Friday evening.
Sakkari, ranked No 7, will play the winner of the match between Dane lucky loser Clara Tauson and Croat Petra Martic, the No 6 seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the Linz tournament, the Greek won against Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz (6-1, 7-6 (6)) and Russian lucky loser Varvara Gracheva (6-4, 6-2).
Vekic, ranked No 33, defeated German Tamara Korpatsch (7-6 (4), 6-1) and American Madison Brengle (6-3, 6-1).
