Ostrava Open: Alexandrova into semi-finals

Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova reached the semi-finals of the Ostrava Open by beating Czech wildcard Tereza Martincova 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 at the Ostravar Aréna on Friday evening.
Alexandrova, ranked No 21, will face Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Russian won against Belarusian Victoria Azarenka (6-4, 4-6, 6-2) and No 5 seed Daria Kasatkina (6-1, 7-6 (1)).
Martincova, ranked No 78, defeated Swiss Jil Teichmann (7-6 (1), 7-6 (5)) and Estonian Anett Kontaveit, the No 3 seed (7-6 (3), 1-0 ret.) in the previous rounds.
