Seoul Open: Kasintseva reaches quarter-finals, beating Marino

Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva defeated Rebecca Marino 6-4, 6-2 on Wednesday night. She’ll play the winner of the match between Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the top seed, and Russian Anastasia Gasanova in the next round

Andorran lucky loser Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva reached the last eight of the Seoul Open by winning against Canadian Rebecca Marino, the No 8 seed, 6-4, 6-2 at the Seoul Olympic Park on Wednesday night.

Kasintseva, ranked No 186, will play the winner of the match between Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the top seed, and Russian Anastasia Gasanova next.

The 17-year-old Andorran defeated Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet (6-2, 6-2) ahead of her victory.

In the previous round of the Hana Bank Korea Open, Marino, ranked No 81, beat Croat qualifier Jana Fett (6-1, 6-2).
