Ashlyn Krueger reached the final of the Veneto Open by beating Robin Montgomery 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2 at the Tennis Club Gaiba on Saturday.
Krueger, ranked No 143, will face German Tatjana Maria, the top seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, Ashlyn Krueger won against Slovenian Dalila Jakupovic (6-3, 6-2), Katie Swan (6-3, 4-6, 5-5 ret.) and Italian Lucrezia Stefanini, the No 7 seed (6-2, 6-1).
Montgomery, ranked No 162, defeated No 5 seed Taylor Townsend (4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4)), Brazilian Laura Pigossi (6-0, 6-7 (3), 6-0) and Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure, the No 3 seed (6-4, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Gaiba tournament.
