Denmark’s Clara Tauson, the No 5 seed, moved into the final of the ASB Classic with a win over American Robin Montgomery 6-4, 6-3 at the ASB Tennis Arena on Saturday.
The Dane had to resume her delayed quarter-final against top seed Madison Keys earlier on Saturday, which she won before taking to the court against Montgomery.
Tauson, ranked No 50, will play the winner of the second semi-final between American Alycia Parks and Japanese Naomi Osaka, the No 7 seed, on Sunday.
Ahead of her wins today, the 22-year-old Dane defeated Italian qualifier Lucrezia Stefanini (6-2, 6-3) and American Sofia Kenin (4-6, 7-6 (7), 7-6 (3)) earlier in the week.
Montgomery, ranked No 117 and playing her first WTA-level semi-final, beat Japanese lucky loser Mai Hontama (6-3, 2-6, 6-0), Japanese qualifier Nao Hibino (6-2, 6-2) and Bernarda Pera (6-4, 6-4) earlier in the week.
