Ukrainian wildcard Elina Svitolina defeated Russian Varvara Gracheva, the No 6 seed, 6-3, 6-4 to move into the semi-finals of the Strasbourg Open at the Tennis Club de Strasbourg on Thursday afternoon.
Elina Svitolina will play the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Clara Burel and American Bernarda Pera, the No 4 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Ukrainian won against American Louisa Chirico (6-4, 7-6 (1)) and New Zealander lucky loser Erin Routliffe (W/O).
Gracheva, ranked No 44, edged out Chinese lucky loser Zhuoxuan Bai (6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (3)) and beat Frenchwoman Selena Janicijevic (6-2, 6-1) in the previous rounds of the Strasbourg tournament.
