Dubai Open: Swiatek reaches quarter-finals with straight-sets win over Svitolina

Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, advanced to the last eight of the Dubai Open by winning against Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 15 seed, 6-1, 6-4 at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Wednesday evening.
Swiatek, ranked No 1, will face the winner of the match between Russian Anastasia Potapova and Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 6 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old Pole defeated American Sloane Stephens (6-4, 6-4).
Svitolina, ranked No 20, beat Anhelina Kalinina (6-3, 7-6 (7)) and German Tatjana Maria (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
