Cincinnati Masters: Medvedev reaches last 16

Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, moved into the last 16 of the Cincinnati Masters by winning against Italian Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 6-2 at the Linder Tennis Family Center on Wednesday.

It was his second win over the same opponent in the space of a week, having beaten him in straight sets in the Canadian Open’s round of 16.

Medvedev, ranked No 3, will play the winner of the match between German Alexander Zverev, the No 16 seed, and Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka next.

Musetti, ranked No 18, defeated Daniel Evans (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Cincy Open.
