Citi Open: Evans books spot in last 16, beating Edmund

Daniel Evans won against Kyle Edmund 6-1, 6-2 on Tuesday evening and will face the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed, and Australian Alexei Popyrin in the next round

No 16 seed Daniel Evans moved into the last 16 of the Citi Open by defeating Kyle Edmund 6-1, 6-2 at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Tuesday.

Evans, ranked No 40, will face the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed, and Australian Alexei Popyrin next.

In the previous round of the Citi Open, Washington D.C., Kyle Edmund won against Japanese qualifier Yosuke Watanuki (6-4, 7-6 (8)).
