Citi Open: Mmoh saves three match points to upset Hurkacz

American Michael Mmoh advanced to the last 16 of the Citi Open by edging out Pole Hubert Hurkacz in a third set tiebreaker after saving three match points along the way.

The American scored his third top 20 win of the season by beating the No 4 seed 6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4) at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Tuesday.

The American has now improved to 3-1 against top 20 opponents in 2023:

Mmoh, ranked No 112 in the world, will face the winner of the match between Radu Albot and American J.J. Wolf, the No 16 seed, next.

The American defeated qualifier Bradley Klahn (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round of the Washington D.C. tournament.
