Second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, of Greece, defeated Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi 7-6 (1), 1-6, 6-3 to advance to the second round of Halle at the Owl Arena/Gerry-Weber-Stadion on Tuesday afternoon.
The 23-year-old Tsitsipas needed one hour and 55 minutes for the win, in which he struck 14 aces and saved seven of the 10 break point opportunities against his serve.
The win sets up an exciting clash against Australian wildcard Nick Kyrgios in the second round.
