There was nothing anyone could do this Sunday against Casper Ruud. The Norwegian, the tournament’s second seed, clearly dominated French fourth seed Ugo Humbert (6-2, 6-3) to claim the Stockholm title at the Kungliga Tennishallen.

The world No. 12 delivered a powerhouse performance on the Swedish tournament’s center court. He finished the match with 22 winners to just 12 unforced errors and a perfect record at the net, winning all seven of his approaches.

Ruud was especially impressive on serve, dropping only three points throughout the match and not conceding a single break point. Against such a wall, Humbert had no tools to fight back, getting broken three times in a final that lasted just one hour and six minutes.

14th ATP title for Ruud

“I played the best match of my season against you, I’m really sorry!” Casper Ruud said after his victory. “I’m super happy to win here, it’s kind of a childhood dream, as it’s very close to Norway, and many great players have won here. Today I had to play close to the baseline and be aggressive to beat Ugo.”

This is the 14th title of Ruud’s career, and his second in 2025, following his triumph on Madrid’s clay courts last May. Casper Ruud remains 11th in the Race, just 750 points behind Lorenzo Musetti, who is eighth and the final qualifier for the ATP Finals in Turin.

In the previous rounds of the Stockholm tournament, Ruud, ranked No 12, defeated Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 3 seed (6-3, 6-4), American Sebastian Korda (6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4) and Croat Marin Cilic (7-6 (2), 6-4).

Humbert, ranked No 25, defeated Dane Holger Rune, the top seed (4-6, 2-2 ret.), Italian Lorenzo Sonego (6-7 (3), 6-0, 6-3) and Italian Matteo Berrettini (7-6 (5), 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
