Wimbledon: Anisimova battles past Noskova to reach quarter-finals and confirm Top 10 debut

The American will face Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova for a place in the semi-finals

American Amanda Anisimova, the No 13 seed, battles past Czech Linda Noskova, the No 30 seed, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 to advance to the last eight of Wimbledon on Sunday evening.

The American came from a break down in the final set to beat Noskova in just over two hours.

Anisimova, ranked No 12, is through to the last eight at the All England Club for a second time in her career (after 2022) and through to this stage at a Grand Slam for a third time (also reached the French Open semi-finals in 2019).

The American will face Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova for a spot in the semi-finals. But regardless of what happens, Anisimova will break into the world’s top 10 rankings for the first time next week.

Earlier in the week, the American won against Hungarian Dalma Galfi (6-3, 5-7, 6-3), Mexican Renata Zarazua (6-4, 6-3) and Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (6-0, 6-0).

Noskova, ranked No 27, beat Russian Kamilla Rakhimova (7-6 (6), 7-5), German Eva Lys (6-2, 2-6, 6-3) and American Bernarda Pera (6-2, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the tournament.
