Martina Capurro Taborda moved into the final of the Florianopolis Open by beating No 3 seed Nadia Podoroska 6-2, 6-1 on Saturday evening.

Capurro Taborda, ranked No 194, will face the winner of the match between Australian wildcard Ajla Tomljanovic and Mexican Renata Zarazua next.

Martina Capurro Taborda won against Brazilian wildcard Carolina Bohrer Martins (6-3, 6-4), American Elizabeth Mandlik, the No 8 seed (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) and Frenchwoman Carole Monnet (7-6 (7), 6-0) ahead of her victory.

In the previous rounds of the Brazilian tournament, Podoroska, ranked No 75, defeated Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (6-4, 6-1), Slovenian Polona Hercog (6-2, 6-3) and Romanian qualifier Anca Alexia Todoni (W/O).
