Korea Open: American Bektas moves into quarter-finals
The world No 116 won against Su Jeong Jang 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday

American Emina Bektas reached the last eight of the Korea Open by winning against Su Jeong Jang 6-3, 6-4 in Seoul on Thursday.
Bektas, ranked No 116 in the world, will play Australian Kimberly Birrell next. This is the second time that the American has advanced to the quarter-final round at a WTA level event and moves her closer to a top 100 debut, having been ranked No 251 at this time last year.
Bektas, aged 20, edged out Brazilian Laura Pigossi (6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-5) in the previous round of the Seoul tournament.
Meanwhile, Jang, ranked No 162, upset American Sofia Kenin, the No 5 seed (6-1, 6-4).
