Kvitova and Cirstea will meet in Miami semi-finals

Czech Petra Kvitova, the No 15 seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the Miami Open by beating Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 18 seed, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at the Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday evening.
Kvitova, ranked No 12, will play Romanian Sorana Cirstea next.
The 33-year-old Czech won against Linda Noskova (6-3, 6-0), Croat Donna Vekic, the No 22 seed (6-4, 7-6 (3)) and Russian qualifier Varvara Gracheva (7-5, 7-6 (5)) in the previous rounds of the Miami tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Alexandrova, ranked No 18, won against American Taylor Townsend (6-3, 5-7, 6-4), Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 9 seed (7-6 (8), 6-3) and Canadian Bianca Andreescu (7-6, 0-2 ret.).
