yMonterrey Open: Vekic through to quarters, plays Bonaventure next
The Croatian beat Emma Navarro 6-3, 6-2 in the second round on Wednesday
Croat Donna Vekic, the No 3 seed, defeated American wildcard Emma Navarro 6-3, 6-2 to move into the quarter-finals of the Monterrey Open at the Estadio GNP Seguros on Wednesday.
Vekic, ranked No 31 in the world, will play Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure next.
In the previous round of the Monterrey tournament, the Croat benefited from the retirement of Ukrainian qualifier Lesia Tsurenko (2-6, 5-0).
Navarro, ranked No 134, had defeated against Frenchwoman Leolia Jeanjean (6-4, 6-2) in the previous round of the event.
