Martincova makes Nottingham semi-finals, beats fourth seed Zhang

Czech Tereza Martincova moved into the last 4 of the Nottingham Open by beating Chinese Shuai Zhang, the No 4 seed, 6-3, 6-2 at Nottingham Tennis Centre on Friday.

Martincova, ranked No 60, will play the winner of the match between Greek Maria Sakkari, the top seed, and Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 7 seed, next.

The Czech won against Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin (7-6 [1], 7-5) and Pole Magda Linette, the No 8 seed (6-2, 7-6 [3]), in the previous rounds; while Zhang, ranked No 41, won against Spanish qualifier Cristina Bucsa (7-6 [4], 6-3) and wildcard Jodie Burrage (6-2, 7-6 [4]).
