Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva edged out Jodie Burrage 7-5, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (7) to reach the last 8 of the Vancouver Open at Hollyburn Country Club on Wednesday evening.
Kasintseva, ranked No 165, will face the winner of the match between Australian qualifier Priscilla Hon and Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the second seed, next.
In the previous round, the 17-year-old Andorran won against Japanese Misaki Doi, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-2).
Burrage, ranked No 142, edged out Pole Maja Chwalinska (6-7 (2), 6-2, 7-6 (4)) in the first round.
