Wuhan Open: Alexandrova eases past Baptiste to reach quarter-finals
The Russian will face the winner of the match between Chinese Xinyu Wang and American Jessica Pegula, the second seed, in the next round

Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova moved into the quarter-finals of the Wuhan Open by winning against American qualifier Hailey Baptiste 6-1, 6-1 at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center on Thursday.
This was the first meeting between Alexandrova, who lost in the first round in Beijing last week, and Baptiste, who came through the qualifiers this week.
The American won only 40 percent of points off her second serve as compared to 76 percent for the Russian.
Alexandrova, ranked No 33, will face the winner of the match between Chinese Xinyu Wang and American Jessica Pegula, the second seed, next.
Earlier in the week, the Russian edged out American Sofia Kenin (6-1, 4-6, 6-4) and beat No 10 seed Anna Kalinskaya (6-4, 6-7 (2), 6-1).
Baptiste, ranked No 102, defeated Frenchwoman Diane Parry (6-4, 7-5) and No 7 seed Barbora Krejcikova (6-3, 7-5) in the previous rounds of the tournament.
