Krejcikova/ Siniakova win Olympic women’s doubles gold ending Bencic’s hopes of a double
Three-time Grand Slam doubles champions Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova have added the Olympic women’s doubles gold medal to their resume

Czech duo Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova are the new Olympic women’s doubles gold medalists after defeating Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic/ Viktorija Golubic 7-5, 6-1 at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday.
Krejcikova and Siniakova have been among the standout teams on the women’s doubles circuit in recent years. The duo won the French Open and Wimbledon doubles titles in 2018, and added a third major at the Roland-Garros in June this year.
While the first set was a tight affair, with the Czechs wining 7-5 in 47 minutes, the second set was closer than the score line suggests,. The 6-1 set took Krejckova and Siniakova 39 minutes to complete the straight-sets win.
Czech win ends Bencic’s hopes of an Olympic double
The Czech win ended the hopes of Belinda Bencic to claim a double gold medal at the Olympics. Bencic won the women’s singles gold medal on Saturday, scoring a three-set 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 win over another Czech player Marketa Vondrousova.
The win continued an incredible run of form for Krejcikova, who has won three of her last five events in singles, including her first Grand Slam singles title at the French Open, in recent months.
