Medvedev surprises fans with news of daughter’s birth

While tennis fans were eagerly looking forward to the birth of the first child of Rafael Nadal and tennis couple Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina over the past few weeks, Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev surprised the tennis world with news that he had also become a father for the first time.

The Russian posted a picture of his daughter on Twitter with the caption – “14.10.2022 Welcome to the world baby girl ❤️”.

This is the first child for Medvedev and his wife Daria Chernyshkova, with whom he has been married since September 2018.

While his wife had been missing from recent tournaments, Medvedev had played recently in Metz and Nur-Sultan, losing in the round of 16 and the semi-finals respectively, following his US Open campaign.

Medvedev, who is still chasing one of the remaining three berths for the season-ending ATP Finals, is next scheduled to compete in Vienna, which begins on October 22 and the Paris Masters the following week.
