Danish teenager Holger Rune dished out the first double bagel of his professional career on Tuesday as he hammered Bernabe Zapate Miralles of Spain 6-0, 6-0 in the first round of the Moselle Open in Metz.

The 18-year-old, who took a set off Novak Djokovic in the first round of the US Open, wrapped up victory over the Spaniard, ranked 14 places higher than him at No 119, in less than 48 minutes.

Rune won 60 points to Zapate Miralles’ 25 and saved the only break point he faced, while breaking his opponent’s serve six times out of 12.

Zapate Miralles had also lost the deciding set of his final-round match in qualifying, before sneaking into the main draw as a lucky loser. Rune beat Philipp Kohlschreiber on his way through qualifying.
