Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto, the top seed, defeated Argentinian Nadia Podoroska 7-6 (8), 6-1 to move into the last eight of the San Luis Potosi Open on Friday.
Cocciaretto, ranked No 49, will play Slovenian Tamara Zidansek next.
In the previous round, the 22-year-old Italian won against Mexican Marcela Zacarias (6-3, 6-0).
Podoroska, ranked No 107, won against Paula Ormaechea (6-2, 6-1) in the 32.
