Pole Magda Linette, the No 3 seed, moved into the final of the Chennai Open when Katie Swan retired firom their semi-final on Saturday.
Linette, ranked No 67, led 3-0 when Swan, ranked No 174, pulled out. Swan had suffered from sickness and injury in her quarter-final win.
The Pole will play Czech Linda Fruhvirtova, who will be appearing in her first WTA Tour final, for the title.
Magda Linette won against Japanese Moyuka Uchijima (6-4, 6-0), Russian Oksana Selekhmeteva (6-2, 6-0) and Canadian Rebecca Marino, the No 7 seed (7-6 (10), 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds, Katie Swan defeated Dutchwoman Arianne Hartono (6-1, 6-2), Russian Anastasia Gasanova (7-6 (5), 6-2) and Japanese qualifier Nao Hibino (6-3, 3-6, 6-3).
